Select assignments include Wong Yoke Nyen’s leadership on successful IPOs such as UWC Berhad, Baba Eco Group Berhad, Heng Huat Resources Group Berhad, and Tomei Consolidated Berhad. He was also instrumental in several major M&A transactions including the merger of Phileo Allied Bank and Pacific Bank with Malayan Banking Berhad, the merger of Bank Utama with RHB Bank Berhad, and the privatisation of UEM Group Berhad by Syarikat Danasaham Sdn Bhd. Notable restructuring and advisory mandates include the disposal of Celcom (Malaysia) Berhad to Telekom Malaysia Berhad and debt restructuring exercises for George Kent (Malaysia) Berhad, Gula Perak Berhad, and SCK Group Berhad. Additionally, he advised on the USD150 million Guaranteed Convertible Bond issues by YTL Corporation Berhad and YTL Power International Berhad, and the acquisition of Wessex Water Limited in the UK by YTL Power’s subsidiary.

He currently sits on the Board of Directors as Independent Non-Executive Director of Hap Seng Consolidated Bhd and Permata Digital Berhad. Previously, he was on the board of directors of Focus Lumber Berhad, Benalec Holdings Berhad, Sentoria Berhad, XiDeLang Holdings Limited, New Hoong Fatt Holdings Berhad and Export-Import Bank of Malaysia Berhad. He was also an honorary advisor to the Master Builders Association Malaysia from July 2008 to June 2010.

Wong Yoke Nyen started his career in Baker Rooke, a firm of Chartered Accountants in London, United Kingdom in 1981, where he gained wide experience and exposure in the areas of auditing, accountancy and management consultancy work. He joined Aseambankers Malaysia Berhad (now known as Maybank Investment Bank Berhad) in 1983 and his last position in Aseambankers Malaysia Berhad was executive vice president cum head of corporate finance division.

Wong Yoke Nyen holds a Bachelor of Arts with Second Class Honours Degree (First Division) in Accountancy from City of London Polytechnic (now known as London Metropolitan University), United Kingdom. He attended the Advanced Management Program at The Wharton Business School, University of Pennsylvania, USA.

Wong Yoke Nyen founded WYNCORP in 2004.
